The beans we use are the Pure Colombian 100% Arabica Excelsio bean which has the caffeine removed before roasting using just CO2 and water (the Swiss Water Method). This gives a cleaner tasting bean than decaffeinated beans stripped using chemicals as is common in some cheaper coffees. The bean is roasted until it is dark in colour and shiny, but before it starts to burn and become bitter. This gives a strong-tasting decaff that is superbly smooth, and is comparable to our full caffeine Italian Roast. Perfect for those who like a stronger tasting decaff.
