This rare coffee uses only the very best beans from the Eastern and Central regions of Cuba. The coffee grows on steep slopes of the mountain chains at an average altitude of 400-800m. The plantations are managed by state-owned cooperatives and artificial fertilisers are not used. These coffee plantations have always been managed according to the original tradition. Turquino is incomparably well balanced and spicy with a full aroma and long lasting aftertaste. It is grown in the lower regions and therefore lower in acidity than other central American coffees. It is often mentioned among connoisseurs alongside Pure Jamaican Blue Mountain and the Kona from Hawaii.
